Privacy Notice & Membership Terms

Applies to the UK Telugu Business Chamber (UKTBC) member registration form.

1. Who we are

UK Telugu Business Chamber (“UKTBC”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information you provide on this form. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Data protection queries can be sent to our membership team.

2. What we collect

Your name, phone number, email address, company name, professional title, short profile, LinkedIn URL, optional photograph, your expectations of UKTBC, whether you wish to take an active role in the admin team, and — if you identify as a young entrepreneur or student — your subject of study, education institution and interests. We also record the date and time of your submission.

3. Why we use it and our lawful basis

We process this data to administer your membership, verify eligibility, communicate about events, opportunities and community news, and to match members with relevant activities. Our lawful bases are your consent (given by ticking the consent box) and our legitimate interests in operating a business community. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out beforehand.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your details for as long as you remain a member and for up to 24 months after your membership ends, after which the record is securely deleted. Photographs are stored in private storage and are not publicly accessible.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data or share it for third-party marketing. Your data is accessible only to authorised UKTBC administrators and to the technology providers that host this platform and its database, who act as processors under written contract. Data is stored on servers with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards; where any transfer outside the UK occurs, it is protected by UK-approved safeguards.

6. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct inaccuracies, request erasure, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact the UKTBC membership team. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling their helpline.

7. Membership terms and conditions

  • The information you submit must be accurate, current and your own.
  • Registration is an application to join; membership is granted at UKTBC's discretion and may be declined or withdrawn where these terms are breached.
  • Members agree to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully, and not to use member information or community channels for spam, unsolicited marketing or unlawful activity.
  • You must not extract, copy or share other members' personal data outside UKTBC activities.
  • By uploading a photograph you confirm you own it or have permission to use it, and you grant UKTBC permission to display it within member-facing materials.
  • UKTBC provides networking and community services on an “as is” basis and gives no guarantee of business outcomes. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

8. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be communicated to members by email.
